1960 50 Year Class Reunion
What a grand “50 Year” reunion! Eighty-two
(82) classmates of Notre Dame High School’s Class of 1960 met to
recall fond memories of days gone by. Led by our reunion
coordinator, Eddie Kay and supported by his 14 member committee,
152 people attended a well organized event over the weekend of
September 24th, 25th and 26th.
Beginning on Friday with the introduction of members of our 1960
football team at the Notre Dame Prep football game in Pontiac
(NDP was defeated by Dearborn Divine Child 21-7), to the fun
filled get together on Saturday evening, to the Sunday morning
mass at St. Blaze for our 40 deceased classmates, relationships
were re-established if only for this brief moment in our lives.
It was fun for everyone to see class pictures, look at various
yearbooks and to receive the well done reunion booklet. The
booklet provided classmate listings, senior pictures, contact
information, pictures of the cars we drove back then and
comments that were shared by various classmates about our lives
since we graduated. Fortunately, we were provided name tags with
our senior pictures from 1960. It helped us to recognize each
other as there has been a few changes such as hair color, hair
amount and other “additions” since graduation.
Recognition was given to those that travelled
the farthest such as Don Dugal who lives in Honolulu, Hawaii, to
Dennis Savageau, Eddie Kay, Ron Steffens, Gary Bright, Don Chido
and Joe Blum who were married the longest (48 years), to Mike
Lueck having the most children (8) and grandchildren (17), to
Joe Genette having the most great-grandchildren (4).
Among those that attended were eighteen
graduates of Regina High School including eight who were part of
their first graduating class of 1960. They were all able to get
reacquainted through this impromptu reunion.
Stay tuned to our
class website for announcements on future reunion
activity.
